Customs..

Do you think it is possible for me to save $1000 by this year? Because I am thinking of getting a custom in-ear monitor(IEM), Westone ES2 which is gonna cost around $900 something.

Westone ES2

Basically it is those earphones you see singers wear when they perform live. Yes, those beige earbuds. With the custom ear moulds, the ear mould will seal you ears and thus you can hear better to the music.

You may think I am crazy spending $1000 on some earphones but I do think it is worth it as only your ears fit the ear moulds. But there’s so many things I wanna get, a new mobile phone, a desktop etc, etc. Somemore Yanzi’s concert is coming, meaning I will be spending on those concert merchandise too.

How can I save $1000?

The answer is..I cannot take any taxi rides from now on. Die die also must take public transport or drive. So, my fellow friends and BFFs, please STOP me from taking any taxi rides and remind me of the custom IEM that I wanna buy.

However, if by June, I see myself unable to save up to $150 per month, I might change my plans and maybe get a lower, lower, lower grade of IEM, those universal fitting IEM, UM1 which cost less than $200.

Enough of those IEM stuffs, I went to get a haircut at Kimage Prestige during noon and I like the result, but my mum doesn’t. She said its too short. Ya, I do agree its too short but it turn out nice and short would means easier to style and wash. Saving those shampoo and water. Haha. Sad that I can’t do colouring, if not the effect would be better.

Tomorrow I’m going swimming with Lishin and it’s probably the last swim till the next break which is during June. Hope the weather will be sunny tomorrow.

  1. Great choice, but if you are thinking about customs, also be sure and check out the new ES3X (especially if you are going to use them for personal listening). Dale or Doug with Westone Music will be happy to help you with any questions. Or…just drop me a note.

  2. I don’t think that you are crazy spending the money you did. I use my Maestroz TD from Earsound Customs for personal listening and they are awesome! Their cost was around $650.00 which included the cost of the impressions taken of my ears which was needed to make the molds.

    • If I’m not wrong, the cost of $650 you mentioned is in USD. I’m in Singapore and using the exchange rate of USD$1 is to SGD$1.50, it would be around SGD$975. It is around the same price if I were to get the custom IEM locally with impressions cost included too.

I know that it is worth the money to get a custom IEM but my time spent on listening to music is during traveling to and from school. Currently I just started driving, which reduced the chances of me using a earphone or IEM. Not only that, with the economic crisis, is it wise to spend so much on one thing?

That’s why I still in the midst of thinking whether to get it or not. Hopefully, the economy will get better and the hole in my pocket will be disappear. That’s probably the time I will get the custom IEM.

  3. Bearlin15: Yes, I live in the US but I was just surfing around to see if other people also have IEMs and what they thought of them. The $650 is in USD. No matter where you purchase I’m 99% sure that you will be very happy. I typically where mine when I travel which is typically by plane. I cannot recommend wearing these while driving. :)
